Advanced Care Directives

An Advanced Care Directive, also known as a Living Will, is a very important document and should be part of your estate documents, along with a Will and Durable Power of Attorney. The Advanced Care Directive will state your treatment preferences so that your family and your doctors can make the care decisions that you would make yourself if you were able. The Directive also addresses issues such as organ donation and final disposition of your body.

While these are not pleasant issues to contemplate, it is important to plan ahead so that your wishes will be clear. Moreover, it can make a difficult time for your family a little bit less difficult – knowing what their loved one wanted means one less decision that they have to make.
